Retracing the steps

This Sunday - 27 September 2016 - will see "Retracing the steps" of those that had to make the arduous journey from Warrenpoint to escape hunger, disease and death in Ireland.

The Lady Caroline set sail from Warrenpoint to New Brunswick in Canada. Can you imagine the fear and uncertainty of the people who boarded this ship in Warrenpoint?

It was a bleak choice of staying and facing certain death or travelling across the Atlantic with no guarantee of arriving at the destination or what lay there waiting. As we look back at the Great Hunger, it is chilling to think that people are suffering a similar plight in 2015.
