Solar Eclipse

Solar eclipse over Warrenpoint

We have had a few lovely days in Warrenpoint this week and it was with some excitement that some of us looked forward to the first solar eclipse in 16 years.

The morning arrived, the promenade was busier than usual. "Bloody typcial" was the overridIng sentiment of all who gathered. Where was the beautiful clear skies of the last couple of days when we needed it?

Well, there is certainly one thing that we can depend on in Ireland and that is to not rely on or expect the weather to do what we want it or need it to do.

However, that did not dampen the spirits of the eclipse gazers and those that were there were not completely disappointed. Our Sun and Moon and their heavenly dalliance did make an appearance through the dense cloud.

The eclipse was caused by the moon crossing the sun.

It was certainly a little eerie to experience the darkness that descended over Warrenpoint.

To sum it up, it could have been much better but a least we got a glimpse of our galaxy at work.

We enjoyed it
