Ha'penny Bridge's 200th Birthday

The famous Ha'penny Bridge in Dublin celebrates it's 200th birthday today!

It is featured in Phil Lynott's video of his song Old Town above.

It got it's name due to the half penny toll levied on users of the bridge from 1816 to 1916. The bridge replaced a ferry that crossed this stretch of the River Liffey.

In 2001, it received much needed love and attention to repair subsidence.

It is a picture postcard no doubt and always a thrill to cross!

Happy Birthday Ha'penny Bridge!
