To give you an idea of what that means - here is a couple of examples of that reduction in real money terms.
Outgoing voice calls – Your standard tariff rate plus €0.05, down from €0.19

Data per megabyte – Your standard tariff plus €0.05, down from €0.20.
This is a huge issue for us living on the border. Many of us have suffered a huge bill and when we have gone to investigate the reason have discovered that our phone signal has automatically switched to a Southern network.
This has been a particular problem with internet access with some people been caught out with a massive bill while downloading movies or music to their phone. The modern way of posting to social media absolutely everything that happens in our day has also caught some people out with uploading photos.
The automatic update of apps has been problematic as your data is being used while you might not even be aware.
This news will be welcome to anyone travelling to Europe on holiday this summer.
The introduction of this cap is the precursor to the complete abolishment of roaming charges in June 2017
