For any fans of beer, you may be surprised to learn about a thriving brewery industry right on our doorstep. This gives us an excellent opportunity to support local enterprise. If these brewing businesses manage to capture the minds, hearts and palettes of beer drinkers throughout the world, they will want to know more about where it comes from. The more interest we can garner to our part of the world the better.
Beer connoisseurs have long testified that craft beer tates much better than the mass produced beers. Local breweries take great pride in ensuring the taste of their beer is first class. The breweries are local so we can get the opportunity to meet the people making our beer. They employ local people and use local resources.
Whitewater brewery is located in the Kilkeel area, County Down. They use the finest ingredients available and all the beers are hand-crafted in small batches really striving for full flavour. With two of their beers called Belfast Lager and Ale, there is no doubt that they are identifying their product with Northern Ireland.
Cloughmore lager, IPA and stout markets its product as been brewed within a stones throw of Cloughmore, using the fresh mountain water drawn from the Silent Valley.
It is wonderful to see local innovation and commerce striving to make an impact. In a world dominated by very powerful players in the drinks business, many people would be put off even getting started in this business.
