Stop the Thief
With the recent spate of car crime in the Warrenpoint area - vandalism and theft, we have put together a few tips to help you in the fight against the thief.
Take security measures - a thief is an opportunist and will move on from your vehicle if there is something that they have to remove or prevents them from taking swift action. Stickers and steering wheel locks do act as a deterrent - check out some of the examples here
Car owners can be careless by leaving items in the car - phones, leads, chargers. An untidy car with coats lying in the back might tempt a thief into thinking there is something in your car being hidden causing huge damage in the process.
You might want to think about removing the sat nav mounter and wiping the windscreen. The thief might make the correct assumption that you have put your sat nav in the glove compartment and break into your car to check it out
It might seem obvious but always lock your car and windows. We live hectic lives and this is often overlooked by many. Take a second and check - don't leave it easy for the thief.
Don't leave your car keys easily accessible at a front or back door of your house.
If you are parking your car at night along the street, turn your wheels into the kerb, it makes your car more difficult to move. If you have a drive or garage use it and install sensor lights where your car is parked to fend off any would be thief.
